Jota - Armchair
Sao Paulo - Brasil
2010/11

An Icon made with re-used wood pieces and planks from factory supply.
Made with re-used wood from a factory in Parana/Brasil, Jota Armchair entered the Brazilian market in 2010 as an Icon of design. With an appealing and minimal shape design, J captures the modernity of the new Brazilian era of furniture design but also brings pulls the vintage by the hand with the feet solution present in many 70's furniture designs.
Made internally of wood planks and pieces, the outer shell has many options such: Veneer, Laquer or pure treated wood for outdoor purposes.

THE CHALLENGE
CREATE A SURPRISING AND STURDY FURNITURE STRUCTURE FOR OUTDOOR AND INDOOR SPACES USING DISCARDED WOOD PIECES AND WOOD PLANKS

There were many challenges other than creating furniture out of trash wood, one of them was the weight and shipping costs. During the development of this project, the structure was reviewed by me and the factory to make it as optimized as possible with fewer planks to lower the weight and achieve price points and manufacturing feasibility.
